The long awaited Pokémon Center collaboration products with Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam are finally released!
Pokémon Center collaborated with Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam to have a limited time exhibition featuring paintings inspried by Van Gogh from September 28th, 2023 to January 7th, 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Museum and 170th anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh’s birth. Along with the exhibition, they will be releasing a series of merchandises
Within the line of products, they released a pin box set with 6 pins. The pin designs are the 6 paintings that are exhibiting at the museum:
- Self-Portrait as a Painter, 1887–1888 (featuring: Smeargle)
- Self-Portrait with Grey Felt Hat, 1887 (featuring: Pikachu)
- Sunflowers, 1889 (featuring: Sunflora)
- Self-Portrait with Straw Hat, 1887 (featuring: Eevee)
- The Bedroom, 1888 (featuring: Snorlax & Munchlax)
- Wheatfield with Crows, 1890 (featuring: Corviknight)
The pin box set is sold at Pokémon Center US/UK online store as well as the Amsterdam Museum gift shop. The product is retailed at $49.99. The dimension of the pins and pin box are not specified on the product page, but the box seems to be quite big from pictures taken in the gift shop.
Besides the collaboration products, a special promo card was released for anyone that completes a adventure quest at the exhibition. Fans can also obtain one card with every product that is purchased from the Pokémon Center US/UK online store. This is the Promo card:
The pin box set was sold out within minutes of the release on the online shop. There has not yet been any information on whether the products will be restocked or not.
Side Note:
This collaboration was beyond popular, especially due to the promo card. On the first day of the Museum opening, the gift shop was filled with fans and scalpers to buy the products. Many items were sold out before noon on the opening day. Also, because the release date and time were not announced by Pokémon Center online shop, many fans did not get the chance to get the items they want when the products went online on September 29th unannounced. All the products were sold out within minutes. Hopefully there will be a restock for both the promo card and the products!
